Park County Announces Community Meetings for Short-Term Rental Ordinance Review

Park County, CO – Park County has announced a series of community meetings as part of the review process for its Short-Term Rental (STR) Ordinance, originally adopted in January 2021. The county aims to gather resident feedback to understand what’s working well and how the STR landscape should evolve. The meetings will be held from 5-7 PM at various locations across the county:

  • Lake George Community Center – September 25, 2024
  • Fairplay Community Center – September 30, 2024
  • Jefferson Community Center – October 7, 2024
  • Alma Town Hall – October 16, 2024
  • Bailey, Platte Canyon High School (Canyon Room) – October 21, 2024
  • Guffey Charter School – October 23, 2024
  • Hartsel Fire Station – October 28, 2024

RSVP is encouraged but not required to attend these meetings.

STR Ordinance Review and Revision Timeline

The review and revision of the STR Ordinance will proceed as follows:

  • September – October 2024: Conduct a public opinion survey and launch stakeholder meetings throughout the county to collect community input.
  • November – December 2024: Revise the STR ordinance based on collected feedback and open a public comment period, both online and in-person.
  • January – February 2025: Finalize the revised draft and present it to the Planning Commission for consideration and recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • March 2025: Seek the unanimous adoption of the revised STR ordinance by the Board of County Commissioners.

Community Involvement and Participation

Residents are encouraged to stay informed throughout this process and actively participate by signing up for updates via the STR Policy Ordinance Review Sign-Up Form. In addition, residents are reminded to complete the ongoing Park County STR Community Survey, which is an essential component in understanding public sentiment regarding short-term rentals.
