Park County's July 2024 Newsletter: Tick Prevention, COVID-19 Tests, and Measles Awareness

In its July 2024 newsletter, Park County Public Health focuses on raising awareness about tick-borne illnesses, providing COVID-19 at-home tests, and protecting children from measles outbreaks.

Tick-Borne Illness Prevention:

With no vaccines available for Colorado tick fever, residents are urged to use insect repellents, wear long sleeves, and check for ticks after outdoor activities. Symptoms to watch for include rashes, fever, and fatigue.

COVID-19 At-Home Tests:

Free COVID-19 home tests remain available at Park County Public Health offices in Fairplay and Bailey. Residents can contact the health agency at 719-836-4162 for more details.

Measles Vaccination:

The newsletter emphasizes the importance of MMR vaccines for schoolchildren, with the state’s current vaccination rate below the recommended 95%. Public Health officials remind families to schedule back-to-school vaccinations to protect against measles, which remains a highly contagious disease.
